Beauty is what you see

Reflect

Many have asked the story behind The Chunky Mermaid. Why do they have to be so fat? Why can't you draw perfectly shaped, beautiful mermaids? Why are they so naked? Why are they so pale? Why are their tits so big?

Everyone has different ideas of what makes someone/thing beautiful. Some prefer thin, some prefer more flesh, some prefer dark, fair, etc? And the truth is, there is nothing wrong with whatever you perceive as beautiful, you're entitled to your own opinion.

I draw what I draw because I feel like it. I can draw a chunky mermaid today and a waif-y mermaid tomorrow, it really doesn't matter. Some days you look at an art piece and you feel like it speaks to you, some days it won't. It really boils down to you, in the end.

Look into the mirror (mosaic) and reflect upon yourself. -SOLD
